Chocolatina is my first picture book, and it was published in March 1998. Loosely based on one of my college roommates, it tells the tale of a girl who eats nothing but chocolate and deals with the repercussions. (This deviates only slightly from real life - my roommate once ate a can of cranberry sauce because she felt it was time she ate some "fruit." This may be the only reason she never wound up like Chocolatina.) Chocolatina won the Picture Book category for the Arizona Young Readers' Award for 2000. |
